I was really pleased to travel to Lyon in France to participate in the national conference of the Agence Nationale de Lutte contre l’Illettrisme. It was a large affair with a mixture of plenary sessions and professional development workshops.
Although there were two ministers present I was especially impressed with the presentation of Phillipe Merieu He is a renowned academic expect in pedagogy but more recently a Green party member of the Rhone Alpes Region. His spoke with real passion about the significance of literacy in people’s lives. I was not alone in considering his contribution excellent. His site is well worth a read. http://www.meirieu.com/
I was pleased to make a presentation about practice in the UK alongside other European colleagues including Graciela Sbertoli from VOX in Norway, Michele Minne from Belgium, Benoit Michel from Switzeland and of course Jean-Pierre Jeantheau from France.
