Charity Shop DJs

Wirksworth festival had the usual great weekend when people open up their houses and display other people’s art. But… on Saturday night in the Hope and Anchor the pub was host to a Charity Shop DJ night. The idea is that you bring along 5 records you bought in a charity shop and you get to spin them on the disco deck.

As you can see from the picture because my charity shop records were 78s I had to bring my own wind-up gramophone.

The next charity shop activity was that you were asked to pay £1 to lucky dip. Th e’presents’ were charity shop cast offs – stuff that would not sell. your challenge was to use the art materials provided to turn a mug or a dull biscuit box into something or artistic value!

It was a great community occasion shared with Debbie,, Will and Louise who came up from London – thanks for joining the dancing guys!

It seems that the Charity Shop DJ concept has ‘legs’ and Jules and Andy take the idea and kit around to animate events. They certainly got Wirksworth going
