It really was a great honour last week to attend a ceremony at the UNESCO Headquarters with colleague Patsy Quinn and NIACE chair of Board Nick Stuart to receive the UNESCO King Hamad bin Isa al Khlalifa prize for using technology in Education. The work that had merited the prize was in digital inclusion and use of technology with adult groups who may not otherwise has access to ICT to enhance and inspire their learning. This really was the aggregated effort of very many people- not just NIACE staff but also E Guides, learning providers and many experts and trainers who all joined the cause of making sure technlogy really can make a difference to adult learners.
Other projects honoured on the day were, Infocentros from Venezuela, Phillipines and ALISON free courses from Ireland.
