Adult Learning in the clouds

– notice that the Guardian’s Adult Learning supplement (it is Adult Learners’Week) has a large artcle which waxes lyrical about cloud computing and cites the OU (and only the OU) as having embraced the cloud.

Niall Sclater – head of learning innovation at the OU – is evalgelistic about moving function out of house to the ‘cloud’ .

There have been concerns about resilience and data security and overall loss of control (not to mention potential job cuts) . I know that local authority providers of adult learning are often tied in to corporate policies but in these frugal times I expect that we will need to examine this option and be ready to follow the lead of the Open University.
