I have just started reading some stuff around Digital Ethnography. Good old Wikipedia defines ethnography as a .
Based on this I reckon that Digital Ethnography can have two distinct but potentially overlapping faces:
1) using digital methods to pursue the business of ethnographic study
2) studying the cultural phenomena reflecting knowledge and meaning of cultural groups which are defined of which are operating through digital interaction.
